Happy Popcorn Day
Today was pretty obvious. I must admit…sometimes that’s
nice. I suppose you could take the
creative route if you wished. You eat popcorn flavored suckers/ jelly beans,
which always seems like a novel idea until you discover they taste like feet.
Don’t ask me how I know what feet taste like.
You could fashion a new flowered swim cap with popcorn and
bits of twine, but again…probably not the best idea. No…no…the best way to
enjoy this delicious commodity would be to ingest it….in vast quantities…and
smother it with so much butter and salt it ends up being a hot sweaty
mess….mmmm.
As the popcorn hiccupped about it the microwave, I had a
thought. Who came up with this anyways? My imagination being what it is,
fanciful and unrealistic, I had a beautiful vision of a hot summer day, rows
and rows of corn, and an unsuspecting farmer napping on his wrap-around-porch.
Suddenly sounds of gunshots explode through the haze. The farmer launched for the ground. When
everything settled, he peeked his nose round the corner of the house. Instead
of rows and rows of golden corn, what met the farmer’s eyes what unlike
anything he’d ever seen… especially in July….snow drifts, white, cottony, snow
drifts as far as the eye could see.
How amazing would it be to flop into a popcorn sea?!
