Inspire Your Heart With Art Day

January 31, 2013

Happy Inspire Your Heart With Art Day

I don’t know of anyone else who can inspire my heart with art more than the wonderful Sister Wendy Beckett….that silly creature! She has captured such a vast amount of my soul from a very young age.  As a child, I turned the television onto PBS nightly, and stalked every sweeping movement down Italian corridors and through French palaces. I swung on every bucktoothed word she uttered as she described, with such delicious passion, each piece of artwork.   Her persona struck me in such a way, that I paid her the highest form of flattery….imitation. I could do the “Sister Wendy” like no one else….especially when guests came by the house and I taught them about how our painting of fruit was “painted in Ancient Rome in 1976.”

Escape Day

January 30, 2013

Happy Escape Day.

Escape Day was filled with all sorts of escapes.  Escapes from Sandy, escapes from BYU’s got talent, escapes to the exotic culinary world of sweet potato fries and live music native to Guru’s, and a cinematic reel of escapes with Along Came a Spider and Catch Me if You Can…..all concluding with an escape from Provo, which is probably the sweetest escape of all.

Puzzle Day

January 29, 2013

Happy Puzzle Day

Last year I assembled a puzzle of a GIANT hamburger…..from that day on I swore I would never do a puzzle again! I had accomplished the world’s trickiest puzzle….I crossed it off the list, glued it, framed it, and now it is currently living on a wall in my bathroom.  No more puzzles for me. When I discovered today was either Puzzle Day or Corn Chip Day. Corn chips, for whatever reason, remind me solely of sweaty socks. I shant be eating nor celebrating sweaty sock chips. ….the choice was clear….I would have to do yet another puzzle.  All my life, we’ve had a Clue mystery puzzle. The puzzle comes in the box shown below; however, the puzzle looks nothing like the picture on the box.  Included in the box are two things:
 1. A plastic magnifying glass to help you read secret coded messages.
 2. A booklet containing all the clue, plot, and suspects you need to solve the Murder of Dr. Black.
The idea is that once you’ve completed the booklet, and the puzzle, you’ll be able to use the final clues pictured in the puzzle to solve the murder.

There are only a few problems.
1.I no longer have the red magnifying glass.
2. I no longer have the booklet
3. I’m missing a couple puzzle pieces.
4. No one online knows anything about the case. Trust me…I looked. Someone claims Mrs. Peacock did it, but they had no proof and I believe they’re just bitter.

So the puzzle’s done, but the mystery shall continue unsolved…..which is truly quite puzzling. Seems apropos don’t you think?

Kazoo Day

January 28, 2013

Happy Kazoo Day

Today was rather low-key.  I had two options. Either I could tromp downstairs to the holiday closet, and toot aimless nothingness on a New Year’s horn, or I could stay where I was, and pipe a melodic rendition of Kumbaya on the harmonica. Considering that the latter was far more convenient, not to mention classier, I performed my tune for an audience of two. I still wish I could get my hands on a French horn kazoo, or a trombone kazoo. Heck! I’d even settle for a trumpet kazoo….but alas….maybe next year.

Chocolate Cake Day

January 27, 2013

Happy Chocolate Cake Day

Tonight bowls were filled, beaters twirled, and ovens revved up to maximum heat. It’s cake makin’ time. However, we didn’t just make cake….we made homemade Oreos.  Friends, have you ever had ahomemade Oreo? Well…let me tell you…they will revolutionize your life! Can you imagine holding that warm little bundle in your hand, breaking the delicate crust with your teeth, chocolate crumbles avalanching  into your face?! Can you feel the filling squash out the sides onto everything,  sugar seeping into every cranny making your teeth jingle with joy?! Mmmmm

*pause while I trundle down and fetch another*

Mmmmmmmmmmmm! Now THAT’S what I’m talking about!
