Happy Eliza Doolittle Day!

I don't know if you recall, but in the movie My Fair Lady, Eliza Doolittle sings the song Just You Wait in which the King proclaims the 20th of May Eliza Doolittle Day! Don't believe me? Check this out.

To celebrate we got dressed and went to town....hats and all! My favorite part of this whole experience was the My Fair Lady Barbie advert preceding the feature presentation! The ball gown doll is to die for. I've always loved that one ever since I was little.

Happy Neighbor Day!

Today is Neighbor Day... It's also Pentecost but mom was not about Pentecost hahaha. We had dinner with the Robisons and on our way home a neighbor made a large noise and I yelled Hey!  But that was no sufficient for Neighbor Day. As we rounded the corner I spotted Lynn cutting his grass.

Mom and I decided to treat ourselves to a night at the movies. Armed with popcorn, soda, and Reeses...of course...we braved the third installment of Iron Man. When people started glowing, they lost me, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the Reeses.

Happy Pack Rat Day!

I have too much stuff....couple that with the fact that I'm moving in a few weeks and I REALLY have too much stuff. So to celebrate I purchased yet another bag for my posh New York lifestyle. Once a pack rat, always a pack rat. Actually, that's not true. I'm not a pack rat at all. I just said that for effect. In fact, I'm actually quite comfortable with throwing things away. I'm just getting really excited for my new adventure...that is all.

 Today I introduced my nieces to the Chicken Dance. They thought it was pretty funny and to top the day off I ate a hamburger patty and watched the Bones episode with the murdered chicken man. A successful day.

I had big plans to play leap frog with my nieces today....I just didn't take into account that I could leap frog over them but that was the extent of the game. Instead I watched an old Pepsi commercial depicting a frog jumping race. Good times.

Happy Mother's Day!

Today my nieces are three months old on the dot. Our whole family when to our home wars with my mom. Everyone oohed and ahhhed over the twins. We spent the whole day together eating food and opening gifts. Mom said being together was the best gift she could ask for. I love my mom. Her wit and style are beyond compare, but I love her most for her generosity and compassion for all around her. She's such a sweet soul. I love her with all my heart.

Happy Train Day!

I babysit my twin nieces everyday, I can say with much confidence that I have watched my weight in Say Yes To The Dress episodes. I can't even tell you how many dress trains I've beheld in the past few days. After my shift ended I made a detour in the trax parking lot in hopes of glimpsing a real live train. It was pulling out just as I snapped a photo. Then I decided to journey home rather than creep on people as they scampered to their awaiting vehicles.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Day!

There I was standing neck to neck in a box of a room waiting for my oil to be changed. Elaine searching for Mr. Peterman in the Burmese jungle echoing in the background. Some unsavory fellows breathed in my direction. Somehow these muggy conditions inspired me to pull out my phone and email those teachers that influenced my short little life. My hats off to all those dedicated to caring for the kids in their classrooms .... For making it possible for those kids to leave school with a little proverbial  doggie bag filled with glitter and love.

Considering that I celebrated Cinco de Mayo on the third, I thought I'd switch the days and celebrate the third on the fifth. Today is Sunday. I went to church. I wore two different shoes and I was definitely the talk of the room. I didn't mind much to my mother's chagrin.

Happy Star Wars Day!

My best friend in all the world said to me after we visited the temple, "Stefanya, I have a prize for you. Sit here. " so I sat on a little benchy thing and closed my eyes like a good prize person. A few sounds later and before my eyes was my very own Princess Leia cupcake! Buns and all! And escorting her were all of her Star Wars fruit snack friends! So magical! Later my mom humored me and let me dug out oh VHS of A New Hope......yeah....we didn't make it past.....well......anything. Game over. May the fourth be with you.

Happy Batman Day!

Today I found myself at Walmart. Kate the Great was coming over to celebrate Batman Day, and I needed provisions. Whilst roaming about the aisles, the thought occurred to me... the man folk have Batman shirts in this land!!!! I've always wanted a Batman Shirt. He is my favorite heroic character after all....suave, resourceful, a real person, no hokey costume or disguise. So good. As I stood in the check out line, I happened to strike up a conversation with the couple behind me. They of course had no idea it was Batman Day. Low and behold, they picked up a copy of Dark Knight Rises and purchased it for the occasion. Kate and I prefer The Dark Knight....I need a little comic relief in my life.
