Happy People Watching Day
In an effort to spend my holiday earnings and celebrate the
day, I made my way to Fashion Place Mall. Originally I planned to shop, then
have a little snack and watch my people there, but I was so famished I could
eat my weight in pretzel bites. I made a b-line past all the beautiful dresses
in the land and sprinted towards Pretzel Maker. Once I had my extra salted
bites, I settled into a chair and observed those around me.
I found it an extraordinarily uncomfortable experience. I suppose I don’t possess the finesse of stalking people. I’m just not bothered in normal life, so when I took notice today, I proper stared….and at one point I even had my mouth fully open. The only reason I know this is because I was at the end of the mall with all the kiddie rides. The airplane, the school bus, the rollercoaster etc…and with rides come kids But with kids come cautious mothers that give the stink eye to any hester in the vicinity. I….I’m sad to report….was the recipient of many a stink eye.
Back to the children… . they are by far the most entertaining to watch…..them and custodians that dance in the bathroom when they think they’re alone….yes…I did witness that., but kids…kids make me laugh. This particular batch was in a state of constant turmoil between a sip of Capri Sun and “One More Ride.” I watched their little eyes peel away from the lights and squeaks to answer the siren song of the Capri Sun! One little boy leapt off a train with such force, his little legs couldn’t catch him. With his body pancaked on the ground, his eyes remained fixed on the silver glow coming from the stroller. He army crawled his way closer, latched onto the stroller, hoisted himself to his feet, and drank deeply from the Capri Sun in hand. It wasn’t until after he quenched his thirst, that he realized he was in pain and began to cry. “Mommy, I fell down! It hurteded!” *Insert water works here. *

There are many other
individuals whom I could mention including the man that belted out every word to
the Neil Diamond song playing, but is another story entirely.
